Katherine Gatward Interiors is a full-service design studio based in Summit, New Jersey that specializes in residential and boutique-style commercial spaces. Our mission is to approach each project with a commitment to creating spaces that are a true reflection of the clients living and working in them. We turn houses into homes that are beautiful, unique, comfortable, functional, and timeless.
Katherine Gatward
Raised in the Midwest, Katherine graduated from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana and spent her twenties living abroad. In Ireland, Katherine taught in a one-room schoolhouse, raised sheep, and designed local décor from her thatched roof cottage. Her years in Berlin, London, and New York City expanded her aesthetic to include modern design, clean lines, and minimalism. Since 2000, Katherine has called Summit, New Jersey her home with her British husband and two teenage sons.
Opening Katherine Gatward Interiors has been her lifelong dream. She loves working with clients, listening to their wishes and watching a room come to life. Katherine is known for her enthusiasm as well as her attention to detail. Her unique touch of adding texture and pattern, and mingling antiques with modern styles, creates fresh and classic interiors.
Whether her role is the general contractor on a bathroom renovation, working on a commercial project, decorating one room or an entire house, she makes sure every space feels warm and inviting, and that clients truly enjoy the design process.
Alexandra Cote
Raised in Chatham, New Jersey, Alexandra has always had a passion for all things design. She graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Visual Merchandising, and a minor in Fashion Merchandising from Lorenzo de Medici, Florence, Italy. In 2018, Alexandra became a design assistant at Katherine Gatward Interiors, where she provides administrative support, corresponds with vendors, and assists Katherine in every part of the design process. In late 2019, she began an exciting new opportunity at the Free People Showroom in NYC, while remaining a consultant for Katherine Gatward Interiors.
